Treatments & approaches

Acupuncture

Acupuncture places very fine, sterile needles at chosen points on the body. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, those points are selected from the whole picture of how a concern shows up for you—where it is, what makes it better or worse, and how your sleep, digestion, and energy are—rather than from the symptom name alone.

What a visit includes

What a visit includes

  • A conversation about your main concern, health history, medications, and any care you already receive.
  • A Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment, which can include pulse and tongue observation and checking the area of discomfort.
  • Treatment with single-use needles that stay in while you rest. Most people feel a brief pinch, then a dull heaviness or warmth; tell Sue if anything feels uncomfortable.
  • A short review afterward: what Sue did, what to notice over the next days, and whether follow-up visits make sense.

Responses differ from person to person, so no specific result is promised.

Chinese herbs arranged for a private consultation
Separate consultation

Chinese herbal consultation

Chinese herbal medicine combines plant-based ingredients into a formula chosen for your overall pattern, not a single symptom. It can be used on its own or alongside acupuncture, and is booked as its own consultation.

How the consultation works

How the consultation works

  • Sue reviews your symptoms and history, plus every medication and supplement you take, to check for possible interactions.
  • If herbs are appropriate, she explains the formula, how to take it, and what to watch for.
  • The formula is reviewed at follow-up visits and adjusted as things change.

Pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking blood thinners? Tell Sue before the consultation—some herbs are not suitable.

A private consultation setting for discussing pelvic-floor concerns
Supportive care

Pelvic floor

Acupuncture for pelvic discomfort, pregnancy and postpartum recovery, urinary-health questions, and core or hip tension—offered in a private, unhurried setting.

What to expect

What to expect

  • The first conversation covers your symptoms, relevant pregnancy and birth history, and any pelvic-floor therapy or medical care in place.
  • Sue explains each step before she begins. You stay draped throughout and can ask to pause at any time.
  • Care is complementary: it works alongside your physician or pelvic-floor therapist, not instead of them.

Complementary approaches

Cupping, Gua Sha & more

Sue may add these within an acupuncture visit when they suit your care. They are not booked on their own.

Cupping

Cups create gentle suction on the skin, usually over the back and shoulders. Round marks can appear and fade over several days.

Gua Sha

A smooth-edged tool is stroked along oiled skin. Temporary redness is normal and fades within a few days.

Electro-acupuncture

A mild current runs between pairs of needles. It feels like light tapping or buzzing and is adjusted to your comfort.

Manual techniques

Hands-on work to ease muscle tension, added within a visit rather than booked on its own.
